I never thought that I would be in this situation, but who does. I am in a desperate situation. I am unemployed, and desperated for some type of assistance.  Here's my story.  I was a Facilties Manager for a homeless shelter for 10 years until we got a new Director who decided that she would get rid of all the managers for her 'own' people.  Since that time I worked for a furniture company, only to get into a car accident (directly in front of the building), just 2 days before my insurance became effective. I hurt my back and could perform the long standing the job required.  I had previously been a draftsperson but had only worked on the board (no CAD) so decided to return to school.  After being approved for a full scholarship, I enrolled in the Internet and LAN Security program only to find out in week 4, (when it was too late to ofset any charges), that I had an outstanding loan from 1972, so my grant was revoked.  So now I owe this school and couldn't continue.  I really think it was a scam because you can go on the internet and apply for a loan in 30 seconds, but they couldn't find this loan for 6 weeks. Just in time for me to have to pay for the whole semester.  I had however taken courses in Excel and Access which enabled me to qualify and get a job for a temp service working for Chrysler for 6 months until the constant lifting of boxes caused a pinced nerve in my back to cause weakness in my leg and a limp in my walk, so they ended my contract after my doctor put a 5lb. limit on what I could lift (2006). Since that time I have not been able to find a job and with no insurance I can't get the physical therapy the doctor suggested. 

In July of 2007 I could no longer afford my apartment so I had to move in with an old friend and daughter.  I can't contribute to the household so I feel depressed.  The only money I've had since then was what I was paid (once a year) for an annual fesitival that I am the Assistance Volunteer Coordinator for.  This year the pay came the very day that my  car got towed for no insurance on Oct. 20, (while I was away cashing the check). So now I have my tags and insurance, but no car, and the cost is rising everyday. My winter coat and clothes are in the trunk along with some baking supplies. I don't know how much more I can take.  I know the bible says "God will not give us more that we can handle" but I'm not sure.  I don't look forward to Thanksgiving or the Holidays.  I have 4 grandsons and I couldn't get them anything last year, and won't be able to get them anything this year.  I don't want a hand out just a helping hand. 

I really need to get my 1994 Grand Prix out of pound before it cost me more that I paid for it 2 years ago ($900.00).  I have 2 children, but they have their own families and my youngest is still in school (college) with a child of her own.

I am trying to sell cakes.  I took cake decorating classes earlier this year, but couldn't finish the last course because of cost and I've placed flyers in area stores but with little success so far.  Since I've started I've only sold 2 cakes.

I've never been a lazy person. I got my first job at the age of 12.

If there is a Guardian Angel out there for me, I sure could use you now.
